Long Time!

I have not posted in such a long time. I just don't have much to write about. I've had job offers that would require me to commute away from home. I'm not willing to do that. I have a lead on a couple of possibilities locally. But after getting sick and missing out on the big hire at the local hospital because of that, my opportunities in this small town are quite limited. I'm just networking and doing what I can to get a good job. I hope life is treating all my friends well.

I just found out today that I passed the National Licensing exam to become a licensed registered nurse!!!! I took the exam Thursday after having to reschedule becaused I ended up in the hospital again for 1 1/2 weeks. I am stunned I passed. I really truly thought I failed. Adam left to go get a "suprise" for me.

I haven't posted lately because I've been so busy and haven't been feeling well. But there's nothing like passing your boards to blow the yuckies right outta your arse!

I got called to reinterview for the ICU position tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. I am not nervous about the interview. It's just that if I don't get this posiition, I don't know what I'm going to do. 4 years of uni will be down the drain because no one is hiring right now. I don't know what I'm going to do.

The seismic activity on the volcano has picked up significantly in the past 24 hours but has not blown yet. More hurry up and wait.

I will be stunned if I get the ICU job. I really will be.

If I sleep in and don't take my first dose by 6 a.m. I get these mind shattering headaches. My fault. I tried going without the meds for a few days and that was stupid. So yes, I do admit I am needing them.

Still waiting to hear about the ICU position. Please pray, send positive karma and energy my way. I went through the house and burnt white sage for purification yesterday. It's kind of something my mom and I do as a shout-out to our American Indian ancestors (I'm like 1/8th Chippewa Indian). It does feel better here today. Call me crazy but I believe in it!

Are there are any virgins left to sacrifice?

I live about 50 air miles from Mt. Redoubt here on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. We're all bunkering down for an imminent eruption. I'm likening the wait to sex and ejaculation. Is he going to come? If so, when? I need to do my nails. This is taking forever. Or OMG! He's like 3 pumps and a dump! Okay, you hopefully get what I mean. This stupid volcano could blow it's top at any time. Are there any virgins left to sacrifice? I'm sick of waiting. My mom says I need patience. What I need are patients!!! Is the hospital going to hire me or not? Maybe they read my blog and that's why it's taking forever :P

I received a call yesterday morning regarding my interview. Things never go how I imagine they will. I did NOT get the gig in Med/Surg which is your basic hospital floor. However, they are holding my application until the director of the ICU/ED comes back Monday because they feel I am better qualified for a critical care position. I don't know if I should be insulted or feel complimented.

The bottom line? Jennifer still doesn't know what the hell is going on!!! But being an ICU nurse is my dream. So am I one step closer to that dream?

I just couldn't keep up the nice facade any longer. I am now back in business preparing for the Zed infestion. My new laptop have biometrics ID (fancy way of saying if I forget my frackin' password, I can swipe my finger over the scanner :P ). But this baby is loaded and I am tracking via satellite any and all Zed activity on our planet. Beware. I have a good aim. Ask my husband. Oh, and don't try being all sneaky and try to pretend to be a zombie around me. The last guy who did that (my ex) ended up with more holes than assholes. And that's saying a lot!

Mostly setting it up has been a breeze. I'm just getting used to Vista, which sucks ass. But I'm loving the computer. It screams!!! I have a job interview at the hospital tomorrow afternoon so pray/send good wishes/karma my way :)

Ok, it’s not secret that I did not vote for the man. However, I really hope he does what he’s been promising and brings about some change. I could use change. About $150,000.00 in change would set me up nicely. Remember, YES WE CAN!

On a serious note, I am truly excited to see what President Obama can accomplish during the next four years. I assume there’s going to be a lot of house cleaning. He went up several notches in my book when he choose Hillary as Secretary of State. But I sure am going to miss Condi.

Did anyone in the DC area attend the inauguration?

New hair cut w/ pics

I did it and cut it all off! I had about 10 inches so I was too short for Locks of Love but all in all I am thrilled with the hair cut. I've been wanting to do this for so long.

My Dell order has been delayed until the 21st so I have to wait for that new laptop. It's killing me :( Here are some pics of the hair cut. I hope I'm doing this right.

Today I had the energy to actually do a 30 minute workout. Nothing more strenuous than breaking a light sweat and getting my heart rate up a bit. I enjoyed getting those endorphins going.

For dinner I made a lite pasta primavara type meal. It was delicious. I love experimenting and am generally a good cook so I'm always happy when a new recipe is a success.

The cold spell has lifted and it's snowing lightly out. It's a bit more bearable. We're still blowing this popstand at some point in time. I have a dear friend in Salem, OR who is trying to get us to move down there. She's been working on getting info about hospitals as she has a friend who works in admissions at one hospital and is now wishing she was a registered nurse.

I now have my license and should be getting a call to interview here in the next week or so.

Adam is so worried about about kitty, Mama Cat. She is getting up in age and has been rather lethargic the past week. We're switching her to catfood for older cats taking into consideration most cats die of renal failure, so we want as little strain on her as possible.

Anyhow, I had a good day today. And Adam got the job!!! He's starts next week. What a relief! It's a better job than he had before and MUCH better pay. This is going to help out so much since we've both been unemployed losers since August :P Hopefully I will be working next month. I can't wait!!!

Life is good and I'm working very hard at remaining optimistic.

JS is officially gone

According to Dorrie, JS has been sold. Like a cheap hoe. JS is where I met my husband and several good friends of mine have met their spouses there as well. So it's not just the end of a damned good blogging site. It's the end of an era. I miss it so. Blogspot is just NOT the same.

Health wise I'm just working on getting energy back. My appetite is coming back slowly. Still drinking those protein shakes. I have a lot of errands to do tomorrow. I finally received my OFFICIAL license as a temporary Registered Nurse in the state of Alaska! I am soooo proud :) I get my permanent one when I pass my boards next month. I'm studying for those. Send good thoughts my way because if I fail, they revoke my temp license until I pass :P

I went all day without more than a minor headache at one point. I also slept most of the day. Poor Adam spent the afternoon cleaning house, and doing laundry. He has a job interview Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. Send positive wishes his way. He technically has the job. This is just a formality. However, I do not bank on anything until it's a done deal :)

I'm heading to bed with a cup of chamomile tea and my book "Confessions of a Shopaholic". I'm reading the book before I see the movie. I love Isla Fisher so can't wait for this one.

Snickerdoodles and not a good day

Today started out as a bad day. I had an earthshattering headache that only some pain meds helped. I am bummed because I had to cancel my hair appointment this morning due to this.

I am feeling better this afternoon and Aaron and I made some Snickerdoodles. They turned out quite yummy and are so good with a cup of hot java. I have to drink decaf java now which really puts a damper in my style. So many changes.

Just watched the last half of the "Bucket List" on HBO. It was quite good actually. "Jumper" is on now. It's crap although Hayden Christiansen isn't hard on the eyes but a bit young for me :)

Today I'm just coping with the fallout from my horrible headache this a.m. Oh, and here's a GREAT website for anyone who is interested in Intercranial Hypertension, which is what I have. http://www.ihrfoundation.org/. I really learned a lot there. My physician admitted I am the first patient he had EVER had in his ENTIRE career with this diagnosis. It's really rare (1 in 100,000). Anyhow, just some info for anyone who likes researching.

Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully one w/out a headache :P

Scones and such

I just made a batch of homemade scones for Adam and Aaron. Needless to say only half are left :)

Each day I get a bit more energy. Today I took one of my prescribed medications, a muscle relaxant. Normally it doesn't affect me. Today it knocked me on my arse! I'm still tripping over my lower lip. This is probably good as I had an appointment with my hairstylist and the salon called to reschedule as she was in a car accident this afternoon (she's okay thankfully). So Saturday is the day where I chop all of my hair off. I can't wait!

Bronwyn is still staying with my mom. With these headaches and my lack of energy, I don't have what it takes to give to my high energy little girl. She's enjoying her extended stay with grandma and they are doing lots of things to keep busy. I know someday these will be some of her best memories. I still feel guilty and miss her horribly but I know it's for the best right now.

Adam just left to go to the library for a bit after stuffing himself on scones. Aaron is doing his homework and munching on his scone. The lab, Diesel, is prancing around the house begging for someone to pay attention to him. Little Turkey :P

Each day I feel stronger. Just tired today. Tomorrow is a different and better day. Yesterday afternoon I suffered an earth shattering headache and was miserable for a few hours. I had to finally give in and take some pain medication. It took the edge off. I had my follow up visit with my doctor on Tuesday. He told me if the Diamox did not keep working I would need a shunt in my head, which is the only treatment. Either that or I can go blind, have an aneurysm, or other various sorts of brain damage. So I'm rooting for the Diamox! Whoo hoo!!!!

I still really miss JS. No other site is as easy to use for me. I'm getting used to blogger slowly but it's just not the same. Damn Dylan and his unprofessionalism! That's all I have to say!

Now I've gone and done it! I just ordered a new laptop. Kind of a self-graduation gift to myself. Of course I went top of the line w/ the XPS 1530 LOADED in Flamingo Pink!!!! Totally girly and the guys won't want to be caught dead using it :P

My laptop has been dying a slow death. It went through 2+ years of nursing school and lots and lots of blogging and games. It's time. My 'lil bro, Will, a.k.a. Alaskanwarrior is inheriting my old Toshiba laptop. He'll get it fixed up in no time.

I just wanted something shiney and new :) I'm such a girl :P
